Barcelona hit Rosengard for 6 in UWCL

Barcelona women make it 3 wins from 3 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage with a resounding 6-0 win over Swedish team Rosengard.

Even without the talents and experience of Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon and Irene Paredes, Barcelona continue to demonstrate why they are favourites to win the Women’s Champions League again this season. Despite missing their usual centre back partnership of Mapi and Paredes, Barcelona looked in control throughout the encounter, limiting Rosengard to just one shot on target.

In typical Barcelona fashion, the Blaugrana dominated the match, with 76% possession in a very cold night in Sweden. Another star performance from Paralluelo was capped off with a tidy goal but she could easily have claimed a hattrick. A Rosengard own goal gave Barcelona the lead before Paralluelo closed in on a cut back from Batlle.

Barcelona continues to test the Rosengard goalkeeper with long range shots leading up to the half-time break before Patri found the top corner with a powerful drive to make it 3-0 going in at the break.

Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmati was next to get her name on the scoresheet with a deft flick to leave Mukasa with no chance of saving the goal. A Caldentey penalty put Barcelona five up and Fernandez Vila rounded up the match with a well-taken shot in added time.

Final score: Rosengard 0 – 6 Barcelona
