Arsenal v Rangers Preview
Arsenal will be looking to avoid the disappointment of last season when they suffered a shock defeat to Paris FC in the first qualifying round.
The winner of the tie will progress to play in the finals on Saturday.
The Scottish Women’s Premier League is already in full swing, with Rangers winning all five of their first matches. A resounding 9-0 win over Montrose Ladies was followed up by a 10-0 win over Dundee United, helping them to set the pace at the top of the SWPL table.
Arsenal meanwhile have just returned from a preseason tour in the United States, where they beat Washington Spirit 2-1 and lost 1-0 to WSL rivals Chelsea. They played a further preseason warm-up match against Southampton, winning 3-0.
While Rangers will benefit from the extra match fitness due to their earlier start to the season, Arsenal are clear favourites to win the tie. Although some of the Arsenal players were involved in the Olympics over the summer, the large majority of the squad have had significantly more preseason training compared to last season.
