Lucy Bronze to Leave Barcelona

Women’s football transfer news: Lucy Bronze to leave Barcelona after they fail to agree new contract.

FC Barcelona has announced that Lucy Bronze will leave the club after two successful seasons with the Champions League winners. Lioness Bronze joined Barcelona from Manchester City in the 2022/23 summer transfer window and quickly added to her trophy collection.

Lucy Bronze helped Barcelona to 2 x Liga F Championships, 2 x Women’s Champions League trophies, 2 x Supercopa de Espana Femenina and 1 x Copa de la Reina.

Despite making 70 appearances over her two seasons at Barcelona, Bronze and the club were unable to agree an extension to her contract ending on 30 June.

Bronze linked with WSL and NWSL clubs

Prior to moving to Barcelona, Bronze was reported to have been interested to a move to the US, with several clubs interested in the former Lyon player. Early reports suggest that Chelsea could be looking to persuade Bronze on a return to the WSL, while she has ties with Man City, Liverpool and Everton, having played for all three WSL teams.

Bronze’s departure means that she joins Mariona Caldentey and Sandra Panos as big-name players leaving the club this summer. Panos has joined Club America in Liga MX Femenil, while Caldentey has been heavily rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar.
