Liverpool Women to Play at St Helens Stadium

WSL team Liverpool Women have announced that they will be playing their home games at the St Helens Stadium from the 2024/25 season.

The Liverpool Women’s team has shared Prenton Park with Tranmere Rovers for the past 5 seasons. The move to St Helens Totally Wicked Stadium means that they will be playing on a Premier-League standard pitch with improved facilities for both players and supporters.

Fans show excitement on social media

Fans took to social media to share their approval, with many commenting on how the location is more accessible than Prenton Park. The stadium is currently home to St Helens RFC men’s and women’s rugby league teams. The Liverpool Women FC team will have sole occupancy for the first half of the 2024/25 season. This is due to the rugby league season not starting until February.

There is a 10-year agreement for Liverpool Women FC to play at St Helens Stadium. This follows Liverpool football club’s decision to repurchase Melwood to provide a dedicated training facility for the women’s team.

Where is St Helens Stadium?

St Helens Stadium is situated around 20 minutes from Liverpool city centre in the town of St Helens. The stadium can be easily accessed from junction 21A or junction 23 of the M6 motorway, or junction 7 of the M62.
