Rachel Daly Retires from International Football

Lioness Rachel Daly has announced she is retiring from international duty.

Following England’s Euro 2025 win against Republic of Ireland, Rachel Daly has announced her retirement from international football. This has come as a surprise to some, given the timing of the announcement. Typically, footballers announce their international retirement at the end of a tournament or season, or when they have suffered an injury.

32 year old Daly has made the decision just two matches into the Euro 2025 qualifiers, which has left some questions regarding why she has chosen to hang up her boots for the Lionesses at this point. Having played a crucial role in the England winning the Euros and their World Cup 2023 campaign, Daly’s versatility as left back and striker made her a top pick under Sarina Wiegman.
